A Simple Ritual: Honoring the Ancestors
- Create Sacred Space – Light a candle and sit quietly. If you wish, place photos, heirlooms, or objects that remind you of loved ones on a small altar or table.
- Offer Gratitude – Place an offering of seasonal food (like apples, nuts, bread, or cider) as a symbol of sharing the harvest with your ancestors.
- Speak Their Names – Say aloud the names of those you wish to honor. Thank them for their guidance, love, or lessons.
- Listen in Stillness – Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and see if any messages, feelings, or symbols come through. Trust your intuition.
- Release & Blessing – When finished, leave the candle burning safely for a while, then extinguish it with gratitude. Offer the food to the earth or compost as a final blessing.
This simple practice connects us to our lineage, roots us in gratitude, and reminds us that the cycle of life, death, and rebirth is sacred.
